Hydrogen policies and procedures review across UK gas networks
Published: 21 July 2025
We recently supported a UK-wide initiative to review and align gas network policies and procedures in preparation for hydrogen transition.
Working with multiple network partners, we developed a master document suite, prioritised updates for key hydrogen projects already underway, and assessed technical requirements for safe hydrogen operations – essentially creating a roadmap to support networks to attain their own hydrogen-ready document suite.
This collaborative approach reduced duplication of effort across the gas sector, and instead helped networks to maintain the pace of progress toward net-zero goals.

Our team facilitated workshops, examined optimal update strategies (e.g. standalone policies, addendums, or policy mergers), and created a delivery programme to manage key project timelines and resources efficiently.
Delivery of this vital project not only demonstrated procedural readiness to stakeholders, but brought the networks another step forward in the preparation to hydrogen transition.
