News Spotlight The Safety of Pipelines: Keeping the country running

The UK energy industry relies on unseen assets to keep it ticking over. COVID-19 Response

Following the recent developments around Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), we’d like to share the strategies we have in place to ensure service continuity. Our priority is the health and wellbeing of our people, our associates and the public, and we are also committed to provide the service you rely on us for and we are well-prepared to continue with no interruption to normal service levels.

In accordance with Government guidelines, which are updated daily, these are the steps we’re taking.

  • Staff that are suffering from even mild symptoms (fever and/or new, persistent cough) are asked to self-isolate for 7 days.
  • Any staff that have travelled to affected areas will be asked to self-isolate for 2 weeks.
  • Travelling between UK sites is being reviewed on a case by case basis.
  • Staff will be able to work remotely in line with standard flexible working arrangements.
  • Instead of face-to-face meetings, where appropriate, extensive use will be made of conference call platforms.
  • Staff working in an office environment should sterilise their hands regularly and follow the Government guidelines about coughing, sneezing, and touching the face.

QEM remains committed to a “business as usual” approach and will continue to monitor the situation, providing you with updates as and when appropriate.
