National Grid - Valve & Civils Project (1460) Engineering Management

QEM Solutions are working alongside Arcadis to assist them in delivering their Technical aspect of the National Grid Professional Services Framework.

QEM are working with the National Grid Delivery Engineers to provide Project Assurance Control and supervision accross numerous site in the UK.

The projects are part of the valve & Civils upgrades projects

QEM Solutions were integral in the delivery of the milestones and monitoring the progress and compliance of the constructor.

Activities included:

  • Acting as the formal National Grid Transmission Services Gas interface with the Contractor for all day to day construction site activities
  • Monitoring SHEQ systems of work operated by the Principal Contractor and subcontractors throughout the duration of the project
  • Overseeing the establishment of an effective system for all relevant permit requirements and ascertain whether it is being it is being implemented by the Contractor
  • Reviewing all Method Statements as per NGUK/Con/BP141G and validate that all site activities are undertaken in accordance with the Method Statements
  • Checking that all site documents have been subject to formal document control
  • Checking that Contractors install works to appraised designs (including temporary works) 
  • Validating that all projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements. 
  • Checking that all personnel are suitably competent and authorised under the SCO process, where relevant 
  • Working with the Contractor to coordinate test and inspection activities detailed in the Works Information and accepted QA & ITP Plan 
  • Checking that any pre-delivery test or inspection activities of plant and materials detailed in the Works Information have been undertaken 
  • Validating that appropriate systems are in place to manage and control materials.  • Identifying, recording and notifying the Contractor of any defects 
  • Verifying that a programme of Technical Inspections is undertaken in accordance TSG SOP - Management of Audits and Inspections (TSG-INT-HS-SOP-0001-Rev01). 
  • Interface regularly with GTAM Area Operations, Distribution Networks (as appropriate) and any other necessary Third Parties with regards to site activities and SCO procedures 
  • Support the review of Non-Routine Procedures, Risk Assessments and Method Statements 
  • Report all incidents, accidents and near misses in accordance with NGUK/PM/INV/1
