UK & Ireland Featured Project: Cadent Mineral Blue / isCompliant Implementation (1603)

QEM Solutions have been assisting Cadent Gas with the implementation of our Mineral Blue and isCompliant software. By developing a bespoke connection between the two suites, QEM were able to establish a streamlined process for gathering project milestone achievements. Balancing these achievements with audit and inspection results have enabled Cadent to to get a true measure of project success.

News Spotlight The Safety of Pipelines: Keeping the country running

The UK energy industry relies on unseen assets to keep it ticking over. Buried deep below ground, often carrying hazardous substances, and frequently managed by different operators, pipelines quietly provide our country’s energy needs and more. But how do we ensure that they’re safe, compliant, and conform to a standard that makes the whole thing work for the greater good?

Our Projects

Combined, we have over 50 years experience, gained on a variety of projects throughout the world. But no two engineering projects are alike.

Sometimes we manage a project from the very start and continue to be involved until the end reports. Other times we are brought in to provide specialist services in specific areas. Each brings different challenges. Each has different outcomes.

We would like to share just a few of these projects here.

Central Asian Gas Transit System Risk Management

European Union, White Young Green

Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan
1 Feb 2008 - 1 Dec 2009

Technologies & Methodologies for reducing gas losses of the Central Asian Gas Transit System.

A European Union funded project, implemented to assist Central Asian gas operators in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan to reduce and prevent leakage.

The uneven distribution of gas resources between the countries and the need to transport gas from the region to other parts of the Former Soviet Union (FSU), led to the construction of a comprehensive infrastructure for gas transport with several thousand kilometres of trunk pipelines crossing through the territories of Central Asia.

Most of the pipeline infrastructure in Central Asian countries was constructed 20-40 years ago and due to the insufficient level of repair and maintenance, parts of the infrastructure reached a critical state of disrepair.

The 18-month project successfully demonstrated that relatively low cost surveys of existing compressor stations, metering stations, and pipelines, using state-of-the-art detection equipment were able to identify locations and volumes of gas leak, enabling repairs which represented a very significant return on the capital involved.
