Design Co-ordination

It is not always possible to ensure that you have a full skill set and competencies within your organisation on a continual basis. That's fine but if this isn't managed and controlled at the design stage, it can lead to skill shortages at critical points during your project.

QEM Solutions offer a unique service that is key to dealing with this problem. We will integrate into the existing design team and enable your designer or contractor to meet the competency and skill requirements.

The key benefit is that it allows them to maintain control over the design but effectively gives them a right-hand man, in house, to deal with management.

Unlike subcontracting out sections or disciplines of a design, which can often lead to miscommunication and loss of information, the QEM Solutions approach ensures that both parties share and verify information. So from the moment the project starts, everything is as designed and ready for action.

  • Identification and development of design discipline scope of works.
  • Management of design contractors and their process control.
  • Provision of design disciplines including control & instrumentation, electrical, civil, and mechanical processes.
  • Management of design interface between designers and 3rd parties.
  • Management of design strategies & ideologies.
  • Design process management in accordance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007.
  • Management of design traceability.
  • Production and development of design specifications.
  • Management and production of material datasheets.

Benefits include:

  • Gaps in resources eradicated.
  • Contractor retains ownership over design and construction processes.
  • Confidence in CDM compliance.
  • Contractor / designer retains reputation for providing "complete" design.
  • Removes liability issues associated with subcontracting design.
  • Reduced costs due to shared overheads.
  • Allows client to manage the sections / disciplines they know and we do the rest.
  • Our staff can rely on a wealth of construction experience to ensure that some of the pitfalls that occur at the construction stage of a project through poor design can be avoided.
